How To: Do a Perfect At-Home Pedicure
Tips to get gorgeous looking feet for your wedding
It's easy to get a professional looking pedicure without the expensive salon price tag. Save your dollars for your wedding by planning a "pedi-party" for your and your maids - the perfect way to enjoy some time together and treat yourselves!
Step 1. Clean it Up
Use an acetone-free remover to remove any lingering polish.
Step 2. Cut and File
Cut toenails straight across, be careful not to cut corners as this may lead to ingrown toenails ... ouch! If you want a square shape, file in one direction.
Step 3. Soak 'Em
Clean your toes and soften your cuticles by soaking your feet in warm water for about 10 minutes. Use a foot scrub on your rough spots to get rid of dead skin.
Step 4. Cuticle Combat
Use an orangewood stick to loosen and gently push overgrown cuticles back into place.
Step 5. Relax & Rehydrate
Dry your feet and apply cuticle cream to base of nail. Pamper yourself with a mini massage with your favourite soothing cream.
Step 6. Polish me please!
To get your toes looking glam, apply a thin base coat, wait a few minutes, then apply your choice of polish. Remember to finish with a top coat.
·Don’t add too many layers of polish, or it will chip easily.
·For a longer lasting pedicure, choose a light colour that won’t show chips or nail growth.
·If you want to try out different nail polishes, place a piece of adhesive tape over your nail. This way you can try on various colours, without the hassle of cleaning the polish off your nail.
